DEPARTMENT OF BIOLOGICAL SCIENCES
NORTHERN ILLINOIS UNIVERSITY
2002
This on-line atlas was designed to help undergraduate and graduate students
enrolled in the human histology laboratory. It is intended to aid students in
understanding the organization of human tissues at the light microscope level.
It is not intended to be all-inclusive.
This on-line atlas contains actual photographs of the histological sections you will be studying in the laboratory. It is not meant to take the place of attending lab, but should act to further assist students in identification of important histological structures.
The following page lists the topics covered in this on-line laboratory atlas. Click on the laboratory topic you would like to study. Throughout this atlas you will see slide numbers listed next to the tissue specimen depicted in the image. These numbers correspond to the slides in the boxes you were issued at the beginning of the course.
