Biography

Jen Jencks Conley is a singer/songwriter, music therapist and counselor. Her folk and inspirational songs touch at the heart of life and its transitions. She combines a folk genre and classical training with a pure vocal tone, and is compared to such singers as Joni Mitchell and Judy Collins. Jen’s songs touch on life’s transitions – anticipating motherhood, change and loss, clebrations, lullabies, the need for courage – all ways we seek and create meaning in our world. Her song writing reflects a deep respect for the essence of human relationships, and the need we all have for each other. From grief-filled to joy-filled, Jen’s songs explore the common threads that connect us, reflecting universal feelings and life passages. A recent reviewer writes “Listening to her music is therapeutic and allows me to reflect on people I have known and spiritual journeys I have taken ... and am yet to take. Jen’s music touches the heart and soul and stirs a yearning to reach out to others.”

Jen performs original music as well as songs by other folk artists. Her music is also family-oriented. Portions of her show always include her daughters (Ellen and Nelle) who join her in singing songs like “First Grade World”, Bring Yo’ Plate (to the sink) and “Ride Back” (about learning to ride a bike).

Come and enjoy an hour of reflection, celebration, and stories through song.
