Jen Jencks-Conley

is a singer/songwriter based in DeKalb, IL. She has a soothing, lyrical voice filled with the expression about which she sings. Her song writing reflects a deep respect for the essence of human relationships, and the need we all have for each other. From grief filled to joy filled - these songs explore the common threads that connect us, reflecting universal feelings and life passages.

Originally from Rockford, IL, Jen grew up in a large musical family surrounded by folk instruments and tight vocal harmonies. Music was a constant presence, more of a way to be, than something to do. Carrying this forward Jen became a Music Therapist Board Certified, and also has an M.A. in counseling. For years she has utilized music in clinical settings for healing, building connections, and as a tool to walk with others through struggles and change. Song writing, for Jen, is that same tool. She combines a folk genre with classical training and a light, pure vocal tone. Whether singing of her mother's passing, a 40th wedding celebration or honoring the first grade perspective, Jen's music embodies matters of the heart. Lives, her first CD, paints a musical landscape which explores life's peaks, valleys and transitions; all with a sense of beauty and dignity.
