Large-scale experimental exclusions are being conducted to examine effects of predators on small mammals, and herbivores on plants

Foxes and raptors are excluded with high fencing and polypropylene netting overhead

The central experimental complex is located in the dominant habitat, thorn scrub, and covers over 2 km2 in an interior valley of the park. Other live-trapping grids are located in fog forest on a coast-facing ridge (green-hatched area), and river bottoms as well as shallow ravines (purple and light blue areas).

Newer exclosures selectively exclude rabbits and hares while allowing small mammal access

Other exclosures exclude all small mammals except rabbits and hares.
